Being fit is one of the most important
aspects of human life. If one is not physically fit, it hinders their physical
performance in daily life, for example, one is unable to climb a couple of
steps without losing their breath. Because of this, in Hornsby fitness is
being given much importance.
Contrary to common belief, being thin is
not being fit. Fitness comes from within, with great functioning of our body
irrespective of the body type. A girl may look chubbier as compared to another
girl of the same age and 5-6 kilograms less than her in weight. The chubbier
girl may be able to walk up and down 3 flights of stairs easily without losing
her breath and the relatively thin girl may not. This is what fitness is i.e.
when we have enough physical capability to perform day to day tasks without it
impacting our body much. Majority of the people in the world who hit the gym do
it predominantly to gain muscle, lose weight; in a nutshell to look a certain
way. Working out, on the other hand, has a lot of above the neck benefits too.
Bad day at university or the office? Hit
the gym! Working out is directly associated with stress reduction. Working up a
sweat can help you manage mental and physical stress. It also increases the
production of the chemical norepinephrine in our bodies that can stabilize the
brains reaction to stress.
When you exercise your body releases
chemicals called endorphins. Endorphins are a group of hormones secreted in the
brain and nervous system that in simple words makes one happy. Dubbed as the
‘feel good’ chemical in normal language, they activate a positive feeling in
the body. Exercising is known to help people with depression and anxiety. It is
not necessary that one has to live at the gym for that to happen, but a few
30-minute workouts spanned over the week should do the trick. It is also said
that exercising can be the equivalent to anti-depressant pills in treating
depression.
The most superficial benefit but a benefit
nonetheless is increased self-confidence. Working out is known to improve how
one looks at their body and if they work out it is mostly in the good light.
One feels accomplished and proud of oneself for toughing a workout out and not
to forget it elevates a person’s perception of their attractiveness.
A solid benefit of exercising is the
decline of cognition. As we get older it is common knowledge that our brain
starts to get a little hazy. It is easy for us to forget about certain stuff
and Alzheimer’s also starts to rear its ugly head in some cases. Research shows
that people who worked out during the age of 25-45 had better cognitive
function and were able to delay the onset of memory loss and brain cell
degeneration. Working out after 45 is also an amazing initiative to keep good
cardiovascular health.
Scientists have also proven that exercising
increases brain power. It sharpens memory and improves cognition which is why
one is able to perform well in certain areas of life. Not to forget it is a
great outlet for people who suffer from anxiety. A rough session on the
treadmill is said to be more effective than a peaceful bubble bath in getting
rid of anxiety. In Hornsby, fitness gyms are in abundance to join one now to
improve your health physically and mentally!
